Cottenham Village College have officially opened their 3G pitch and refurbished changing facilities.
Earlier this year, CVC were awarded a grant for £646,000 from the Premier League, the FA and Government’s Football Foundation, alongside other funding from Astrea Academy Trust and the local Cottenham community.
The pitch has been in use over the summer, and is used by the school, partner organisations including the Cottenham Colts, Waterbeach Colts and Cottenham United, as well as the wider Cottenham community.
Sofia Pheasant, a Y10 student at CVC who has been using the updated pitch and changing rooms said:
“It is amazing being able to play on the new pitch. I believe it has really improved how I play since we have such better facilities to train on and play our matches on. It is such an amazing thing and I love playing on it with my team so much!”.
Zoe Andrews, Principal at CVC said:
“I am delighted to officially open the 3G pitch at CVC. We now have a professional-level quality playing surface and modernised changing facilities, creating an inclusive and high quality environment for training and competition. It’s been brilliant to see our pupils making use of the new pitch and refurbishments and I would like to thank everyone who helped us in this fantastic addition to CVC.”
Tom Webb, Chairperson for Cottenham Colts said:
“Cottenham United Colts Football Club are very excited to have this brand new 3G pitch that benefits so many children from Cottenham and the surrounding villages. With 24 teams spanning both boys’ and girls’ squads and over 400 passionate young players across the club, this state-of-the-art facility is set to be a total game-changer for years to come.”
