As we celebrate our 10-year anniversary, we thank our leaders, teachers and support staff for all their dedication and hard work over the past decade.
Our CEO, Rowena Hackwood, praises teams for a period of “rapid change and evolution” which has seen the trust raise academic standards and achievement for its 14,000 students.
Mrs Hackwood said that none of the trust’s success would have been possible “without the exceptional commitment of our wonderful team of staff who are absolutely committed to achieving the highest possible standards”.

Astrea is marking a decade of transformation where every school in the trust has achieved a Good Ofsted rating in their inspections, some for the first time in their history.
We started out with a small number of schools, including Hartley Brook Primary Academy and Hatfield Primary Academy in Sheffield.
Since then, Astrea has welcomed schools across South Yorkshire: in Barnsley, Rotherham, Doncaster and Sheffield, as well as schools in Cambridgeshire.
We are very proud that our primary school-age children are reaching the expected levels in reading, writing and maths and that, in our secondary schools, 65% of students get a good grade in their English and maths GCSEs, alongside other subjects.
Our current strategy sets the bar higher, committing each school to being in the top 5% of similar schools nationally by 2030.
Rowena Hackwood, CEO of Astrea Academy Trust, said: “We have reached an important milestone for Astrea in our 10-year journey. I would like to thank every member of staff who have helped us reach a point at which all of our schools are Good and we can be proud of the education that we offer our students every day.
“Our purpose is to give all Astrea students an advantage throughout life, setting them up to be accomplished and competitive in all that they do, going further for those children who need more support.
“Over the next five years we are committing that every Astrea school will perform in the top 5% of similar schools nationally.”
